Kathmandu - A Nepalese sherpa set a record for the fastest ascent of Mount Everest by climbing to the top of the world in 15 hours and 56 minutes, Nepal's tourism ministry said.
Mr Babu Chiri Sherpa, a 34-year old professional climber, used no artificial oxygen. His brother Dawa joined him on the last part of his climb, the ministry said. Mr Babu Chiri (whose name is also spelled Babu Tshering) also became the third person ever to reach the top of Everest 10 times.
