SINN Fein is to organise the occupation of public buildings and motorway blockades over the coming days in a campaign of civil disobedience in protest at events in Portadown. West Belfast councillor, Mr Alex Maskey, announced his party's plans at a meeting in West Belfast last night.
The meeting had been billed as a public event and details of the time and venue were announced at a republican rally in Andersonstown on Sunday. However, Sinn Fein officials turned away journalists from the meeting in Conway Street Mill, off the Falls Road. One journalist who managed to get inside was asked to leave after 15 minutes. The Sinn Fein officials gave no reason for the secrecy.
