Two Sinn Fein ministers in the North's Executive went to court yesterday to reclaim the right to attend cross-Border meetings.

The Minister for Education, Mr Martin McGuinness, and Ms Bairbre de Brun, Minister for Health, challenged a ban imposed by the First Minister, Mr David Trimble.

In the High Court in Belfast they applied for a judicial review of Mr Trimble's veto on them attending meetings of the North-South Ministerial Council until the IRA reengages with the arms decommissioning body.

Mr Justice Kerr adjourned the hearing until Tuesday.
