A Sinn Fein councillor who painted the letters "IRA" on the roadway and the wall of a hospital outside a Co Tyrone police station has been fined £200.

Mrs Denise Sutton (24), a member of Dungannon District Council, admitted two charges of criminal damage.

Cookstown Magistrates Court was told yesterday that Mrs Sutton committed the offences when taking part in a demonstration last August to mark the anniversary of the ceasefire and demanding peace talks.
