Sinn Féin has condemned what it described as a “hoax pipe bomb” discovered outside the constituency office of TD Mary Lou McDonald yesterday. The suspicious device was found yesterday morning by a constituency worker at the front door of the Sinn Féin Dublin Central TD’s office.

The front of the office on the North Strand Road in the north inner city had also been “daubed with graffiti”, Sinn Féin said in a statement.

The area was cordoned off by gardaí, and the Army bomb disposal unit made the device safe. It was brought to a secure military location for analysis.

“The people behind this sort of activity have no support. Their actions are pathetic and futile,” Sinn Féin TD Seán Crowe said yesterday.
