Seven men have been jailed for their involvement in a human trafficking operation that led to the death of eight people in a container lorry discovered in Co Wexford.
The men received sentences of between two and 10 years after being found guilty of manslaughter, human trafficking, membership of a criminal organisation and involuntary bodily harm.
But the driver of the lorry who smuggled the group of 13 people onto a ferry at Zeebrugge, Belgium, was acquitted after the three judges no evidence against him.
The immigrants had spent more than 100 hours in the container of the lorry before the discovery of the people, eight of whom were dead.
They were found in a business park in Drinagh, Co Wexford, after coming through Belview Port, near Waterford.
Three of those sentenced have not yet been apprehended but two were given 10-year terms for being the ringleaders of the operation while another was given 6 years.
