Police in Amsterdam have arrested seven people on suspicion of planning a terror attack on the Dutch city.
The suspects, six men and a woman, are aged between 19 and 64 and have dual Dutch and Moroccan citizenship. One of the suspects is related to a suspect in the 2004 Madrid train bombings that killed 191 people and wounded more than 1,800, according to police.
Police said plotters had planned to blow up several buildings in an Amsterdam suburb, including a furniture store and a concert hall.
A number of premises were closed to the public yesterday as a result of a warning received by police on Wednesday.
The arrests took place in Amsterdam but house raids were also conducted in Brussels.
