Pristina - Ethnic Albanian guerrillas and Serbian authorities have agreed to suspend fighting in southern Serbia indefinitely, a NATO adviser close to discussions to resolve the crisis said yesterday.

The adviser, speaking on condition he would not be named, said both sides had agreed to try to solve their dispute peacefully in the area of Serbia bordering Kosovo. He said he expected the guerrillas to issue a formal statement to this effect.
