Cricket: Virender Sehwag's swashbuckling 175 and Virat Kohli's unbeaten century powered India to 370 for four in the opening match of the World Cup against Bangladesh in Mirpur on Saturday.

Sehwag and Kohli (100 not out) added 203 for the third wicket in 24.1 overs as they helped India reach their mammoth total in the marquee tournament.

The 32-year-old opener hit five sixes and 14 fours in his 140-ball innings while Kohli's 83-ball innings included two sixes and eight boundaries.

Bangladesh's bowlers looked off-colour and failed to make any impression on a slow wicket, despite winning the toss and electing to field first.

India were off to a good start and were cruising until Sachin Tendulkar (28 off 29 balls) was run out in the 11th over thanks to a mix-up with Sehwag.

The Delhi man, however, was unperturbed by the incident and brought up his half-century by hoisting Abdur Razzak over long-on for a six and soon India were past 150 in 23 overs.

Sehwag and his Delhi team-mate Gautam Gambhir added 83 more for the second wicket before Mahmudullah clean bowled Gambhir (39).

But Sehwag, who was joined by Kohli, heaped misery on the home team and soon brought up his second World Cup century off just 94 balls as India moved past 200 for two in 32 overs.

India were set for a blitz in the batting power play, as 48 runs were scored in the next five overs, which also saw the younger right-hander bring up his half-century off 46 balls.

Sehwag, batting with the help of a runner, stepped up the run rate further by hoisting Shafiul Islam for his fourth six over mid-wicket and soon completed his 150 off 124 balls.

By 42nd over India were past 300 as Bangladesh bowlers hoped for an elusive breakthrough, which finally came 55 runs later when a tired Sehwag inside-edged Shakib Al Hasan on to his stumps.

Kohli reached his fifth ODI century soon after and along with new batsman Yusuf Pathan (eight) added 15 in the remaining 15 balls.
