A second man from Northern Ireland has been charged in relation to the armed raid on the Bank of Ireland in Dunleer, Co Louth, last week.

Yesterday Mr Desmond Carroll (30), of Bessbrook, Co Armagh, appeared before Navan District Court. Judge John Brophy remanded him in custody.

He is to appear again before the court next Wednesday, as is a co-accused, Mr Gareth McKeown (31), Newry, Co Down. Both are charged with attempted robbery and stealing a Garda vehicle.
