SATURDAY NIGHT’S lotto winner or winners will take home the second largest jackpot in the National Lottery’s history – almost €15.7 million or €15,658,143 to be precise.
It follows the €16.1 million won by the Cunningham family in Cork last July and the winner or winners are as yet undeclared – at least publicly. The jackpot ticket, a €6 quickpick, was bought at Rowlagh News, the newsagents in the village of Rowlagh in Clondalkin, southwest Dublin. It was the first lotto win for the shop.
Picking a winner is worth €15,000 to the agent who sells the ticket, although they have to pay tax on it, unlike the lucky winner or winners of the jackpot itself.
The winning numbers – 6, 26, 27, 32, 44, 45 – include three of the least often drawn – 26, 44 and 45.
National Lottery spokeswoman Paula McEvoy advises the ticket holder to “treat it as if it were cash” and sign the back.
If there is more than one winner, those with a share should also sign the ticket.
