The SDLP leader Mark Durkan expressed unease at the two leaders discussing the warin Iraq alongside the Northern Ireland peace process.

"Bringing the two issues together in this sort of event-management way ishighly questionable. I have registered my deepest misgivings with governmentsabout this," he said.

Mr Durkan said anti-war protesters had the right to voice their oppositionwhen the President visited Northern Ireland.

"It is entirely understandable that people would want to use that to registera protest in a peaceful and dignified manner," he added.
