London - Britain's Scout Association criticised Elton John yesterday for staging a raunchy dance routine with male strippers dressed as Cub Scouts.
The flamboyant star, singing at a 10th birthday party for the gay rights group Stonewall, was accompanied by six teenage dancers who peeled off their woggles, caps and Scout uniforms to dance in their underwear.
A spokesman for the Scout Association said: "We are disappointed a star of Elton John's calibre participated in something that was so lacking in taste." The children's charity Childline also objected.
