A two-year-old boy shot in the head with an airgun in Glasgow has died.

A two-year-old boy shot in the head with an airgun in Glasgow has died.

Andrew Morton is believed to have been hit by a pellet that had been aimed at firefighters called to a kitchen fire near his home in the Easterhouse area of the city.

Police have arrested a man (27) over the shooting on Wednesday night. He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

The toddler died in city's Southern General Hospital, where he had been in intensive care.

A pellet had earlier hit a firefighter attending a reported kitchen fire in the same street. He was uninjured.
