The Science Today page is moving to a new day of the week. From next week it will appear on Thursdays instead of its usual Monday slot. The move is part of the ongoing efforts to improve The Irish Times and the services it provides for its readers.
This means that Science Today will not appear as usual on Monday, November 6th, and will next appear on Thursday, November 9th, and each Thursday after that date. Dr William Reville's weekly column will, of course, be moving with the Science Today page and will remain a central element of it.
We apologise if this causes any confusion or disturbance to our regular readers who have generously supported the page since its inception in December 1997. The move, however, should provide more space and allow us to deliver more science coverage.
Page changes of this kind can upset readers who have become accustomed to finding particular elements of their paper in certain places on certain days. We hope that readers will quickly adjust to this change and continue to receive the science coverage that they want and enjoy.
Scientific research has become an essential part of Ireland's current economic boom, and this central role will continue as the Government begins to spend the £1.9 billion it has allocated for science under the National Development Plan. Each week Science Today provides a look at the research being conducted in Ireland and attempts to inform readers about important scientific developments.
