Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher escaped unhurt after crashing his Ferrari during a test session today.
The German driver's spokeswoman Sabine Kehm said the 33-year-old four times champion emerged unhurt after the turn 12 crash at the Circuit de Catalunya in last year's F2001 car.
"He hit the tyre barriers with the back end of the car," she said. "He's absolutely fine but the car was quite badly damaged."
The accident meant the end of Schumacher's testing for the day and it was not clear whether he would continue tomorrow. The team were still inspecting the data from the car.
