A schoolgirl, whose hobbies of karate and mountain walking were curbed by an injury to her knee, has been awarded £10,000 damages in Dublin Circuit Civil Court.

Mr Neal McDonald, for Rachel Ashe (16), Huntstown Glen, Mulhuddart, Dublin, told the court she was injured when a car driven by Dr Basu Sunandan, of Tralee General Hospital, Co Kerry, cut across the path of the one in which she was a passenger.
