Satirical tones couched in the flat next door

Would you exchange your two-seater couch for your next-door neighbour's boyfriend?

Would you exchange your two-seater couch for your next-door neighbour's boyfriend?

Siofra Campbell's 50-minute play is literally a sitcom, with most of the action taking place on a couch in the one-bedroom apartment of Leah (Eithne Wood cock), who's too easygoing for her own good. She's no match for her neighbour Rachel (Gertrude Montgomery), who has fixed her glassy stare on that couch and won't be fobbed off.

With rapid scene changes between adjoining apartments accompanied by Simon and Gar funkel's sweetly cheery melodies, the lightly satirical, tongue-incheek tone is maintained throughout, though director David Wilmot's decision to play both Leah's little brother and Rachel's boyfriend adds little and sacrifices some necessary attention to comic timing and pace.

Until Saturday, October 7th.
