Mexico City - The former president of Mexico, Mr Carlos Salinas, has returned to Mexico from his self-imposed exile, authorities said yesterday. It was not immediately clear whether Mr Salinas, who ruled Mexico from 1988 to 1994, was back to stay.
Mr Salinas, who had initially taken up residence in Ireland after leaving his country in disgrace in March 1995, currently lives in Cuba, according to his sister Adriana.
