A Co Wicklow language school was struck off a register of recognised language colleges because of extreme concern about safety and other matters, the High Court has been told.
Barrister Mark O’Mahony, counsel for the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI), said Jacqueline Sababou’s Language and Business College in Bray had last week been granted an interim injunction restraining the striking off of her school.
He told Mr Justice Kevin Feeney the injunction was of no effect because Ms Sababou’s college had already been struck off before she obtained the injunction.
Mr O’Mahony said there were two buildings on Quinsboro Road, Bray, in which Ms Sababou operated her school. Both had fire escapes but one of them could not be opened. He said there were nine issues, including fire safety, identified by inspectors in 2009 and which had not been addressed in 2012. He said Ms Sababou’s legal proceedings had been improperly constituted.
Judge Feeney adjourned the matter to September 5th to allow Ms Sababou formulate a new application.
