A South African national appeared at a special sitting of Ennis District Court at the weekend charged with importing £50,000 worth of herbal cannabis.
Mr Stefanus Diederick Myburgh (40), from Johannesburg was arrested at Shannon airport on Friday after customs officials discovered 22.7 kilos of the drug in his luggage.
He was remanded in custody to next Friday's sitting of the court.
