A car blast in the capital of Georgia's breakaway province of South Ossetia today killed seven Russian
peacekeepers, Interfax quoted their commander as saying.
"Seven servicemen died, another seven were wounded," Major-General Marat Kulakhmetov told the agency after a car filled with explosives blew up in the regional capital Tskhinvali.
RIA news agency quoted a Russian foreign ministry source as saying "forces, which seek to destabilise the situation in the region" were to blame for the explosion.
The source did not specify which forces, but analysts said the accusations were clearly referring to Georgia.
