Moscow has proposed amultilateral security pact with North Korea to defuse a standoffover Pyongyang's nuclear programme, Interfax said todayas Russia began talks with North and South Korea on the crisis.
"This document could be four-sided - the United States,North Korea, Russia and China - or six-sided with the inclusionof Japan and South Korea," it quoted an unidentified RussianForeign Ministry official as saying.
The separate bilateral meetings between Russia, North andSouth Korea in Moscow are to prepare for six-way talks inBeijing, due to start on August 27.
Pyongyang said on Wednesdaya US non-aggression treaty was the only way to resolve the10-month old nuclear crisis.
