A lone figure, claiming to be a revolutionary republican socialist, possibly living in west Belfast, is suspected of being behind a recent spate of parcel bombs aimed at unionists and social service offices.
One of the latest two devices exploded in a sorting office in Belfast on Wednesday. Both were addressed to the Department of Health and Social Services in Andersonstown and on the Falls Road. The parcel bomber may live in west Belfast and hold a grudge against the social services. He has previously sent letter bombs to several unionist and loyalist politicians. The attacks were claimed in the name of the Irish Marxist Republican Cadre and the Revolutionary Republican Strike Force.
