RTE and Telecom Eireann twill again link up for the 1996 fund raising Telethon which will take place on Friday April 26th. It will be broadcast live on RTE television with proceeds going to People in Need for distribution to charitable organisations.
As part of the event, Telecom Eireann will provide a Freefone line - 1800-800-800 - for people to pledge donations.
Telecom is also producing 100,000 limited edition People in Need call cards and will donate 20p from the sale of each card. It is also making a cash contribution of £200,000.
