A major documentary on the life and times of the former Taoiseach, Mr Charles Haughey, is among the programmes included in RTÉ's new autumn schedule.
The documentary is being produced by Mint Productions, which is owned by broadcaster Miriam O'Callaghan and producer Mr Steve Carson.
RTÉ said the programme makers had been given "unique access to the Haughey family and a close circle of friends, political colleagues and associates". The programme would be a unique portrait of Ireland's most controversial and charismatic modern politician, the station said.
Mint Productions was responsible last year for a series on the recent history of Fine Gael called Fine Gael - A Family At War.
Mint is also behind the "first ever fly-on-the-wall view of Ireland's legal profession", also being broadcast this autumn.
The programme, entitled Legal Eagles, will focus on the "lifestyles, pressures, ambitions, working habits and traditions of the legal profession", said RTÉ.
It will include footage from inside the Four Courts, King's Inns, as well as scenes in court and in judge's chambers. The programme also promises to examine the earnings of legal professionals.
RTÉ has also scheduled documentaries on the poet Patrick Kavanagh, playwright Seán O'Casey and politician Kevin O'Higgins.
In terms of acquired programming, RTÉ is hoping for a major hit with the first of the spin-offs from the Friends series when it broadcasts Joey, starring Matt Le Blanc.
The Apprentice, a show about would-be entrepreneurs, starring New York property mogul Donald Trump, is also scheduled.
RTÉ said it would also be catching up with those who qualified for Morrison visas to America over a decade ago and see how they were faring.
Meanwhile the documentary Marooned follows the fortunes of the former Kerry manager, Páidi Ó Sé, as he takes on the challenge of coaching Westmeath.
