Blackburn Rovers edged closer to the Worthington Cup final with a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday in their first leg clash at Hillsborough tonight.
Rovers went ahead through a Craig Hignett strike before new signing Andy Cole scored his first goal for his new club to lead 2-0 at the break.
Wednesday’s only goal came from Efan Ekoku seven minutes into the second half but Rovers will feel confident of progressing from the second leg at home.
