Newcastle - More than 10,000 people greeted the arrival of the world's first rotating bridge as it was finally moved into place yesterday between Newcastle and Gateshead Quaysides.

Carried by the world's largest floating crane, the £21 million Millennium Bridge is made from a pair of steel arches and the structure can be pivoted to allow large boats to sail underneath it.
