Mountain rescue teams came to the aid of a man who fell during a rock climbing expedition in Co Wicklow. The 28-year-old fell on Saturday while attempting an ascent along a route above the Miner’s Village.

The Glen of Imaal Red Cross mountain rescue team was alerted and sent to the area. The man was moved to a lower point on the mountain where an Irish Coast Guard helicopter could safely operate.

Rescue team members together with the helicopter winch-man secured the injured man into a stretcher.  He was airlifted to Tallaght hospital where he was treated for a shoulder injury.
