A total of 11 people died in road accidents over the last past week, including five teenage girls who died in Monday's bus crash.

So far this year 157 have died on the State's roads, 13 more than the same period last year.

The Minister for Transport Martin Cullen is due to launch a national summer road safety campaign, 'Arrive Alive' on Monday.

The initiative is supported by the National Safety Council, the Garda and the Irish Insurance Federation.
