SEOUL - About 1,000 riot police, led by officers armed with a search warrant, raided the student hall at Hanyang University, which houses the headquarters of the National Association of University Councils (Hanchongryon), a radical student organisation branded "proNorth Korean" by the government.

But the 13 rooms used by Hanchongryon, including one where a presumed police informant was tortured to death by students, were found stripped clean of papers and documents.
