Traffic entering and leaving Dublin Airport over the next four weekends is expected to be severely restricted, due to work on the Dublin Port Tunnel.

The restrictions, at one of the busiest times of the year for the airport, will be imposed from 10 p.m. on Fridays to 6 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

The area affected will be the M1/N1 between Collins Avenue and the Coolock interchange at Santry, about midway between the city and the airport.

According to Dublin City Council the closure is essential to allow for the demolition of the Shantalla Bridge, Santry, to facilitate the construction of the entrance/exit to the Dublin Port Tunnel.
