I SEE that my favourite seaside resort, Enniscrone, Co Sligo, which has a fabulous six mile beach fringed by sand hills, is getting £1.4 million from the EU.
The money is being used to build a lavishly equipped aquacentre on 21 acres beside a park that's now being landscaped.
The centre will have many indoor attractions and it is expected to prolong Enniscrone's tourist season, even when the weather turns bad.
The resort is traditionally a favourite summer getaway for people from the North, who have been coming back in increasing numbers since the 1994 ceasefires.
Naturally enough, Enniscrone people are nervous about the end of the ceasefires and they are hoping peace returns in time for the summer season.
It's one of the few places where you can get a hot seaweed bath piped direct from the Atlantic into your tub at Kilcullen's seabaths.
The tub is filled with seaweed freshly cut from the rocks below, turning the seawater a deep shade of amber and releasing oils that by all accounts do you a power of good.
