Get the landlord's full name and address, and visit him at his home if possible.
Get a landline number as well as a mobile number.
Pay the booking deposit by a traceable method such as a cheque or a banker's draft
Agree to pay the deposit at the property you are renting and check that the keys fit.
Speak to the previous tenants.
Only hand over money when you are happy with the accommodation.
