THE Rehab Group has become the first Irish non-governmental organisation (NGO) to be given consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the UN.
Announcing the appointment, Rehab said it will enable it to receive comprehensive information about ongoing discussions and have greater influence over the council's agenda. The decision to appoint Rehab to NGO status was a unanimous one and followed an extensive review of the organisation's work.
