A man has been refused bail after appearing in court on charges of dangerous driving and stealing a car.

A man has been refused bail after appearing in court on charges of dangerous driving and stealing a car.

Peter Fleming (22), with an address at The Shambles, Market Square, Tullamore, Co Offaly, was arrested in Limerick last Saturday and brought before a special court sitting at the weekend.

The 22-year-old is charged with four counts of dangerous driving at the Old Dooradoyle Road in Limerick city on January 26th last.

He also faces a charge of the unauthorised taking of a vehicle from The Bridge Centre, Tullamore, Co Offaly, on January 24th last. After objecting to bail, Det Garda Paul Crowley accepted Mr Fleming came from an “extremely decent” family but said he is not now living with them.

Mr Fleming is a son of Laois Offaly TD Seán Fleming.

Judge Eugene O’Kelly remanded Mr Fleming in custody until February 12th.
