SIPTU refuse workers in Bray have offered to work for nothing for two weeks rather than see the introduction of private contractors while talks continue on a more cost-efficient service. The offer was made by the union's regional secretary, Mr Jack O'Connor, at conciliation talks yesterday.

The union has also submitted its proposals to make the system of collection cheaper.
