A Nigerian woman whose application for asylum has been turned down and is facing deportation is to meet the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms Mary Robinson in Dublin today.

Ms Ebi Ojoh was advised by Ms Robinson's office to attend the launch of the Refugee Solidarity Badge at the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin today.

Ms Robinson is launching the badge - the profits of which go to the Irish Refugee Council - and will then be available to meet representatives of refugee organisations.

Ms Ojoh will be attending the launch with representatives of the Tramore Pro-Refugee Group who have been campaigning on her behalf.

Ms Alison Tuohy, chairwoman of the group, said Ms Robinson had "shown a special interest in Ebi's case".

Ms Ojoh, who arrived with her two children in June, has said she is a member of a tribe which is being oppressed by other tribes in Nigeria, and her life would be in danger if she was forced to return home.
