Sachin Tendulkar made an unbeaten double century as India posted a record total of 650 for five on the second day of the fourth and final test with Australia today.

Tendulkar made a career-best 220 not out and shared in a record 353-run partnership with Vangipurappu Laxman (178) as the tourists seized control of the series decider.

India's unfinished total was the highest score by a visiting team in Australia and left them in firm control of the series.

Australia captured just two wickets in the day and face a near-impossible task of winning the match with just three days remaining.

India only need to draw the match to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
