Rome - Rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo have killed 23 civilians in the eastern part of the country for their alleged support of nationalists fighting along government troops, the Catholic Misna news agency reported yesterday.
The civilians, including three children, were slain on December 14th in the Kalahe region, 80 km north of Bukavu. Rwandan-backed Congolese Rally for Democracy rebels reportedly suspected the 23 of being close to Mai-Mai nationalists close to the government of President Laurent Kabila in Kinshasa.
