United Nations - The UN Security Council urged rebels in Democratic Republic of Congo yesterday to resolve their differences and sign "as soon as possible" a peace pact endorsed by African leaders.

In a statement read to reporters after a closed-door council meeting the council president, Mr Hasmy Agam, said the 15 members "called upon the governments of Rwanda and Ugan da and other governments who have influence to make all necessary efforts" to obtain the rebel signatures.
