Washington - US lawmakers girded their majority in the Senate and voted yesterday 76 to 22 to rename Washington National Airport after former president Ronald Reagan, in time for his 87th birthday tomorrow.

The House of Representatives, also dominated by Republicans, was expected to ratify the measure later. The proposal had unleashed a partisan debate over who are America's great heroes.
