The richest boxing match of all time is hanging in the balance as US police decide whether to prosecute Mike Tyson for rape.

Las Vegas police have completed their investigation into a woman's claim she was assaulted by Tyson.

The District Attorney is to decide whether the boxer, who has already served a three-year prison sentence for rape, will be prosecuted.

If a prosecution is the outcome it could wreck his £70 million fight with Lennox Lewis.

The woman, believed to be a lap dancer, went to police last September, claiming Tyson had raped her.

Police searched Tyson's Las Vegas home and interviewed the former heavyweight champion.

Details of Tyson's fight with Lewis are to be announced in New York tomorrow.

It is expected to be the biggest grossing fight of all time with April the likely date and New York or Las Vegas the possible venues.

Tyson's second wife filed for divorce last week, accusing the boxer of adultery.

"This is a private situation," Tyson said. "It will not be a distraction. I'm 100% focused on knocking out Lennox Lewis."
