The jury in the Westmeath rape trial at the Central Criminal Court has been told the accused voluntarily gave blood samples when arrested in 1996. Det Garda Eugene Dunne said he brought the blood samples to the Garda Forensic Science Laboratory on July 11th, 1996.

A 56-year-old man is pleading not guilty to nine charges of rape and indecent assault on the woman on specific dates from 1983 to 1994.
