Defending champions Rangers got off to a flying start in the new Scottish premier league season today with a 4-0 win over 10-man Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

Goals from Peter Lovenkrands, Michael Mols and Mikel Arteta, from the penalty spot, had them 3-0 up at the break.

Kilmarnock, who had defender Chris Innes sent off after 35 minutes, conceded a fourth as Arteta scored his second in the 72nd minute.

In the day's other early kick-off Celtic, who were pipped to the title by their Glasgow rivals on goal difference, were held to a 0-0 draw at Dunfermline.
