Plaques commemorating the construction of the Dublin to Belfast rail link in 1855 were placed in Connolly Station Belfast Central Station day by the American Civil Engineers. Mr Charles Parthum, president of society, presented the plaques to celebrate the engineering work involved in the construction the Boyne rail viaduct at Drogheda the world's first lattice girder bridge and Bessbrook viaduct in Co Armagh.
