A raider armed with a syringe who attempted to rob the EBS branch at Cabra Road, Dublin, yesterday afternoon fled empty handed after accidently setting himself on fire.

Having told the cashier to hand over the money, the raider splashed the counter with liquid from a washing-up bottle he was carrying and lit it. Some of the liquid splashed on his clothing and also caught fire before the man ran off.
