Radisson SAS opened its €37 million, 129-bedroom hotel and spa in Little Island, Cork today.

Radisson SAS opened its €37 million, 129-bedroom hotel and spa in Little Island, Cork today.

The hotel, which incorporates the 19th Century Ditchley House, aims to take a five per cent share of the hotel market within the next two years. It is the first international hotel brand to enter the Cork region.

The hotel is owned by two local Cork businessmen; Des O'Dowd, who is also Proprietor of Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa, and property developer Rick Fitzgerald of the Oran Group.

Roger Flack, President of the Cork Chamber of Commerce said today: "The hotel sector in Cork is undergoing immense change with many hotels currently completing extensive renovations.

"This top class hotel with excellent business and leisure facilities will be a great addition to the city, particularly to the many companies located in Little Island, who will be interested in the hotel's business facilities."

Radisson SAS now operates nine hotels in Ireland.
