Radio listenership in Ireland in the period April to September was up by three points to 89 per cent, according to the lastest radio listenership figures released today.
The main beneficiaries were the Dublin-based stations Q102, which increased its listenership to 13 per cent, up six points on the same period for 2003.
Both 98FM and FM104 showed a drop of 2 percentage points to give them a 20 per cent share each of the radio audience.
Newtalk 106's fortunes continued to rise and the station achieved 5 per cent of the listenership for the three-month period, up one point on the same quarter last year.
Spin 1038 had a listenership of 9 per cent, up four points on the 2003 figure.
The listenership figure for any regional/local station was 56 per cent, an increase of three points.
RTE Radio 1's 'listened yesterday' figures were unchanged at 28 per cent and 2FM's figure showed a slight drop of 1 percentage point to 24 per cent.
There was slightly better news for Today FM and RTE Lyric FM, which both showed an increase of one point. Today FM boasted 16 per cent listenership during the period, with Lyric achieving 4 per cent of the audience.
Limerick-based Live 95FM hit listenership of 57 per cent, but no comparison is available for 2003. WLR FM's 'listened yesterday' figures was down two points to 53 per cent. Galway Bay FM recorded an increase of 4 percentage points to 47 per cent, while Midlands 103 recorded a rise of three points to 36 per cent.
Music station BEAT 102-103 FM achieved a 'listened yesterday' figure of 21 per cent for the three-month period, a jump of five percentage points.
Cork 96FM/County Sound recorded a 'listened yesterday' figure of 47 per cent, a drop of two points, while Red FM had a reach of 14 per cent, also down two points on last year's numbers.
