Racing at Limerick and Navan off

Racing at Limerick and Navan this weekend is off due to waterlogging at both tracks.

Racing at Limerick and Navan this weekend is off due to waterlogging at both tracks.

Both Saturday and Sunday's meetings at Limerick have been cancelled following an 8am inspection this morning.

However, there is still the prospect the two cards may be rearranged at a later date.

"Although the weather was not too bad overnight, the heavy rain yesterday has put the clappers on things," a Turf Club spokesman said

"The prospects are not too clever for the next few days either. It is now up to Limerick and Horse Racing Ireland to get together to discuss the possibility of rescheduling."

Sunday's race meeting at Navan also failed after a 8am inspection.

Clerk of the course Joe Collins was forced to make the decision after 19 millimetres of overnight rain.

"The course is waterlogged and there is no way we would have been raceable in time for Sunday because further rain is forecast," he said.

Sunday's meeting at Newton Abbot is also off for the same reasons.
